The end of class--Thursday, May 31st!!!
No more taping, gluing, or modifications made.
Include your team number as your license plate (ex: 1D).
Road Adventure Test Run: Thursday, May 31st
What is the slope of the ramp? Show work
What is the angle of the ramp?
What is the speed of your vehicle? Show work
Presentation Of Vehicle: June 4-5 (Mon-Tues)
3-4 minute max time of presentation, which will be video recorded.
Presentation of the vehicle and explanation of the design/safety features.
Everyone explains their engineering role contributions.
Each individual turns in a notecard with their speaking part.
Rubric has more details.

Bill & Ted's Road Adventure Day: June 4-5 (Mon-Tues)
Following your presentation you will do your vehicle run!
Raw egg will be loaded just prior to vehicle run.
No modification such as gluing, painting, taping or any of the like are to be done to the egg's shell.
Egg must be loaded into a plastic baggie and sealed shut prior to the loading of the eggs into the vehicle.
Vehicle run will also be video recorded.
Vehicle's back axle will be lined up with the highest point of the ramp prior to release down the ramp.
Viewing of video presentations will be the following week in class.

{imgres-5.jpeg} At the beginning of the project, each team member chose an engineering job. Every team member will talk about their contribution to the vehicle in regard to their engineering assignment. In approximately 1-1.5 minutes you are to cover the items below. Your speech must be concise and well rehearsed to fit within the time parameters.
Checklist Of Items To Strongly Consider...
Content Discussed Based On Engineer
Materials choosen and why.
Car design features pointed out and explained.
Safety features of vehicle discussed and shown.
Egg restraints shown and explained.
Presentation of Design to Class ( 3-4 minute max)
Presentation was organized, well-planned, used note card.
Presentation was thorough and included all relevant content material.
Responses to questions were clear and appropriate.
Design was justified to class in presentation.
Presenter handled himself or herself in a professional manner.
Knowledge Applied
Connection between mass and collision applied to vehicle and discussed.
Connection between area, pressure and force applied to vehicle and discussed.
Connection between speed and collision applied to vehicle and discussed.

How can we keep Bill and Ted (raw eggs) from being injured when they crash their car into a concrete wall at a high speed?
Challenge: Design a safe car for Bill and Ted. Bill and Ted will be sitting in the driver and passenger seats of your car.
Team of Engineers
Restraint Engineer: Responsible for “occupants” being held in a safe/secure position during and after the collision.
J Sketch of all preliminary designs.
J Material chosen and rejected and why.
J Test results for each trial.
J Reasons for failure: observations, causes, effects.
J Methods that work and results.
J Final analysis for solution include drawing, material and description.
Crumple Zone & Safety Features Engineer: Responsible for the modeling of a safety system to insure that the design is adequate for the force of impact.
J Sketch of all preliminary designs.
J Material chosen and rejected and why.
J Test results for each trial.
J Reasons for failure: observations, causes, effects.
J Methods of that work and results.
J Final analysis for solution include drawing, material and description.
Car Body Design & Ergonomics Engineer: Responsible for the design and construction of a realistic looking car. Responsible for the occupant consideration factors which include: entry/exit, visibility and space considerations.
J Sketch of all preliminary designs.
J Material chosen and rejected and why.
J Design goals: appearance, aerodynamics, ergonomics, crash-worthiness.
